How long should your videos be?

statistics show that short videos still rule the world! 

Wistia reports stated that only 75% of people watch  1-2  min. video instead of 4-5 min video length. 

Interestingly fact: there’s not a right-exact video length.
Yes, it all depends on the audience you’re targeting & the kind of content you’re making.

YouTube has offered the viewers a length filter so they can decide what kind of content they’re willing to see. People can search for a short video 2-4 min or a longer one that can be 20 min or more.  

still, not sure what’s the best length for your audience?

First of all. try to understand your audience, what they like, what are their hobbies, what they do, how old are they & so on.

But to answer more specific that big question…
here are some [tips] that you should consider before deciding what length your video should be:
create short videos, they engage better.


if you can make it shorter & still give all the important content on it,  [please do it!]

include the catchy-important-valuable content in the first 2 min.

to grab the audience’s attention, most people won’t finish watching your video as the length increases.  

don’t wait till the last minute to make your call-to-action!

Especially if your video is long, you can start doing it in the first few seconds by including a clickable link or just telling your audience to make an action that benefits you & them.

Maybe you already planned out all the content of your videos & you end up with a long video length. [That’s not a problem]

Now you have valuable content to create multiple short videos. Make video sequences about an interesting topic that you’re willing to share. You can start your first video with a great intro of your topic & the rest of the videos can be separated into several subtopics. Also, you can split your process into several videos. 

 

Don’t be afraid of starting to create your own YouTube videos, only have your audience always in mind & think as if you are your own viewer [what would you like to see in your own channel!]
